Deiji Lewe

Updated: Mar 15

Deiji Lewe started in a dorm room with thrifted clothes and a lot of curiosity. "I didn't have the money to buy the clothes I liked." So he started making them himself, cutting, reworking, and upcycling whatever he could find.

"I create with freedom, and whoever resonates with it resonates with it." He designs by instinct and personal taste, trusting the right people will find it on their own.

His aesthetic is rooted in wabi-sabi, a Japanese philosophy that finds beauty in things shaped by time. Old clothes, rusted metal, worn down buildings. He's drawn to objects that carry history and texture, and that shows up in every piece he makes. Each garment is truly one of one.

Handle with freedom

"Handle with freedom" is the brand's way of saying make things without worrying about what other people think. Don't imitate, don't seek approval, just create and be honest about who you are.

Behind that is a real commitment. "Til death do us part" is a vow to the work itself, a promise to keep going through doubt and uncertainty. It's what kept him going through years of working quietly and continuing even when progress felt invisible.

The Prelude

His debut collection, The Prelude, features 55 one of one upcycled pieces, all handmade by Deiji himself. Every detail from design and photography to web, packaging, and shipping is handled by him alone. Buying a piece isn't just purchasing a garment, it's supporting an independent artist and becoming part of the journey.

Driven by the love of creation, I commit to create beauty. Beauty for you to fall in love with. 'Til death do us part.
